Bit of an update.
My dark fantasy project (Erisse of the Illyany) is on hold. It is set partly in Xinjiang with dip into a realms of fantasy & horror. On Illyany; those of you who are up to the geography will realise that the valley for the river Ili is to be found in North-West Xinjiang, close to Kazakhstan. Xinjiang (former Dzungaria) had an even earlier name: Kara-Khitai and it was where the old silk road entered China proper. The way the story is panning out, it will have animist elements and could well be set on an alternate Earth – one in which a Golden Age Islam wasn’t crushed by Turco-Mongol hordes. The Turks were nomads; many of them, like the Mongols, were animists…. so far this comes to 3,000 words.
While those themes gel, Lory Gato, Instellar Gourmet has been cranked up again. When we left him, he’d been invited to the mines on T’negi 36 by lovely xeno-archaeologist, jiz Le’acia.
I’ve always wondered how aliens might consider us, as individuals, as an intelligent species, as a fairly destructive life-form, as a potential menace. Lory Gato sees himself as fun-loving and harmless. Things are about to get nasty.
