I took the plunge and tried Last.FM.
My library is mostly from an extensive vinyl collection, which took several months of real-time vinyl-to-audio conversion.
My friends thought I was mad. The question is, where’s the investment in tracks you download, or just plain rip-off from the net? My tracks include well worn clicks and scratches which I’ve mended to the best of my ability.
As a project, it was immense – several months of real time playing. The result is satisfying. There are loads of products out there to help in this; I used Magix Audio Cleaner and also their Music Editor. On the way I also learned a thing or two about composition.
